The City of St. Albert has rescinded the municipal fire ban that's been in place since May 8 “due to improved conditions in the region with the recent precipitation and cooler temperatures.”

“Residents are still asked to take extra precautions and follow fire safety recommendations while using fire pits, having outdoor fires and using propane and natural gas outdoor appliances,” the city said in a news release this afternoon.

“People are reminded to dispose of smoking materials (cannabis, cigarettes, cigars, matches or lighters) properly.”

Although the ban has been rescinded, the release says St. Albert Fire Services will continue monitoring conditions.

Earlier this week, Sturgeon County rescinded its fire ban, although the county issued a fire restriction in its place.
