The city is hoping to help entrepreneurs take their business to the next level by offering advice at its Power Pitch session.
The seminar, organized by St. Albert’s economic development team, was created to provide local entrepreneurs with useful information on how to make a successful investment pitch, and use new methods such as a crowd-source funding.
“A lot of times people have great ideas and it’s just the investment or capital that is required to put those ideas to fruition,” said Harold Pacheko of the city’s economic development team.
“The city is growing and that doesn’t mean that the businesses here shouldn’t grow as well.”
Guest speakers will be local entrepreneurs Michelle Whitehead of Untamed Feast, a gourmet mushroom picking and sales business, and Nora Furber of Monjeloco Jeans.
Both entrepreneurs appeared on CBC’s Dragons’ Den in 2013 and will share their experiences as well as useful tips with the audience.
Other topics that evening will include a talk entitled Perfecting Your Pitch, presented by Justine and Kendall Barber from Poppy Barley, winners of the 2013 AccelerateAB Dragons’ Den Competition, as well as a presentation entitled The Power of Crowdfunding by Chett Matchett from Alberta BoostR and Lynn Carolei of Sublime Swim and Sunwear.
The Power Pitch seminar will take place on Wednesday, Jan. 22, 2014 at The Enjoy Centre’s Park Room. Admission is $25. The seminar will run from 7:45 a.m. until noon.
