Polling shows Morinville-St. Albert riding a toss up

The UCP is currently projected to win the popular vote with 45 per cent and the NDP is on its heels with 44 per cent of the vote

New polling shows the Morinville-St. Albert riding at a near tie for the upcoming provincial election with incumbent UCP MLA Dale Nally facing off against four-time Sturgeon County councillor and NDP candidate Karen Shaw

The data was released by 388 Canada on May 17, and saw the NDP creep up higher in the polls in the riding. The UCP is currently projected to win the popular vote with 45 per cent and the NDP is on its heels with 44 per cent of the vote. Although the popular voting is close, 388 Canada reports the UCP has better odds of winning, with a 56 per cent chance, with the NDP sitting at 44 per cent.

The NDP have pulled forward in recent weeks and data released on March 11 showed the NDP scoring 41 per cent of the vote and the UCP scoring 49 per cent of the vote, with a margin of error of eight per cent. At the time it predicted the UCP had great odds of winning the riding, with 85 per cent and the NDP with 15 per cent odds of winning.
