Morinville RCMP officers are looking for a 76-year-old man who is missing from a Legal seniors home.

Joseph Alfred Chabot was last seen on Tuesday at around 4 p.m. and was reported missing Wednesday morning.

Chabot is a white male, approximately five-feet-five inches tall and 140 pounds. He wears glasses and was last seen wearing black jeans, a black jacket with the word “Tirecraft” on it and work boots.

RCMP don’t suspect foul play but are keeping all options open, said Staff Sgt. Mac Richards of the Morinville detachment.

“At this point I am suspecting that he has wandered off somewhere,” Richards said. “He may very well be with somebody, with some friends. It is just that he hasn’t come back to the seniors home which is what causes the concern.”

Richards said Chabot does not have any medical conditions that would put him in imminent danger, but there are some memory issues and possible dementia.

Richards said a police search of the community to date has not turned up anything, but they are continuing to expand it.

“We have checked the town of Legal. We have notified employees within the town and contacted Sturgeon County to be on the lookout for him, so we have a broad base of people who are out looking for him,” he said.

Richards said officers don’t know specifically whether or not Chabot spent Tuesday night outside.

Anyone who sees Chabot or has any information about his whereabouts is being asked to call the Morinville RCMP at 780-939-4550.
