A St. Albert resident was robbed by a man with with a box cutter at a bank drive-thru over the weekend.
On Dec. 3 at around 6:20 a.m., an unknown male approached a vehicle on foot in the drive-thru bank machine at the south TD Canada Trust location on St. Albert Trail. The man was holding a box cutter and demanded money.
The driver got away without injuries.
A white Dodge Dakota was seen leaving the bank parking lot, heading north on St. Albert Trail.
The thief is described as a Caucasian male of average height and slim build. He was wearing dark clothing with a black hoodie over his head at the time of the crime.
The St. Albert RCMP warn the public to not resist a robber. They suggest co-operating and not making any sudden or unexpected moves as a nervous criminal may think you are reaching for a concealed weapon.
Police say that if the suspect claims he has a gun, knife, razor or weapon in his pocket, never try to force the bluff. Never try to apprehend the criminal but rather phone the police as soon as possible.
A St. Albert man’s attempt to escape custody in Fort McMurray was foiled on Wednesday.
Wood Buffalo RCMP were called Monday at 5 p.m. after Lyndon Rankin, 21, escaped custody at the provincial court house.
Rankin fled the custody of the sheriffs and made off in the transport van.
His move didn’t get him very far though. Police responded to a complaint of his dangerous driving and found that Rankin had abandoned the van a few blocks away from the courthouse. He was picked up a short distance away without incident.
The suspect has been charged with escaping lawful custody, theft of a motor vehicle, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle and possession of cocaine.
Rankin was originally arrested for pointing a firearm and being in possession of two stolen vehicles.
