One woman has died and another is in hospital after a collision northwest of Morinville on Tuesday. At around 9:45 a.m. the driver and only occupant of a pickup truck lost control of her vehicle while travelling southbound on Highway 44.

One woman has died and another is in hospital after a collision northwest of Morinville on Tuesday.

At around 9:45 a.m. the driver and only occupant of a pickup truck lost control of her vehicle while travelling southbound on Highway 44. The truck jumped into the oncoming lane and hit a truck approaching from the opposite direction.

The driver of the pickup truck died at the scene and the second driver was transported to an Edmonton area hospital with non-life threatening injuries.

Speed and alcohol are not considered to be factors in the incident. Road conditions at the time were slippery with icy sections.

Morinville RCMP along with an RCMP Collision Analyst continue to investigate.

On Halloween night the RCMP received multiple reports of theft from vehicles.

Between 11 p.m. on Monday Oct. 31 and 8 a.m. on Tuesday Nov. 1 the RCMP received six calls about thefts from vehicles.

The thieves struck the neighbourhoods of Grandin Village, Grandview Ridge and Grenfell Avenue. The bandits made away with registration and insurance papers, a pair of figure skates, three skateboards, a Nintendo DS, CDs and gloves.

One man has stolen plenty of perfume from Shoppers Drug Mart.

On Friday Oct. 28, a man made off with $900 worth of fragrances from the store on 665 St. Albert Road.

The man was caught on camera leaving the store and police have released his photo to the public.

A toolbox full of tools was found and turned over to the St. Albert police.

The box was found on Friday Oc. 28 at around 10 a.m. on the road at Kingswood Drive and Kingsway Drive.

The owner of the toolbox is asked to contact the police at 96 Bellerose Drive and provide further detail of the contents.
