Know somebody doing good who needs some good done for them?
A new program to bring kindness to St. Albertans at Christmas is getting underway.
The St. Albert Gazette's 12 Days of Christmas Kindness program is now accepting nominations.
"We're looking to recognize people who do wonderful things for others, whether in the community or behind the scenes for their family, but never think of themselves," said Gazette publisher Tim Shoults.
"We want to give something to those people, and Christmas is the perfect time to do it."
The program is inspired by Soo Today, a community media company in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, who has been giving away Christmas gifts to deserving individuals, couples and families for more than 12 years.
"It's an incredible program, and we're thrilled to be bringing it to St. Albert," said Shoults.
Nominations are open until Nov. 15, after which the Gazette team will pick a dozen recipients, create a customized gift package provided by local businesses for each of them and present the gifts to recipients starting in early December. Video stories of each presentation will be displayed on the Gazette website each day in the 12 days leading up to Christmas, starting on Dec. 13 up to Christmas Eve, then replayed starting on Dec. 26.
"We think these will be very heartwarming stories, and we're looking forward to being able to share them with the community," said Shoults.
Nominations can be made at the St. Albert Gazette website at www.stalbertgazette.com by clicking on the "Features" menu and selecting "12 Days of Christmas Kindness"
Local businesses who would like to provide gifts for the program can also go to the site to express interest, or they can contact Gazette sales manager Angie Hampshire directly at [email protected].
