The City of St. Albert announced today that despite the unseasonably warm start to winter, most of the outdoor skating rinks throughout the city are now open.

The boarded ice rinks in Akinsdale, Braeside, Deer Ridge, Forest Lawn, Grandin, Heritage Lakes, Lacombe Park, Mission, Northridge, Oakmont, Sturgeon Heights, and Woodlands are all open for use as of today.

The change rooms attached to the rinks in Deer Ridge, Akinsdale, Forest Lawn, Grandin, Lacombe Lake, and Woodlands are now open as well.

However, the small unboarded social skating rinks attached to many of the above rinks aren't open quite yet, according to the city's website. The freezeway in Riel Park isn't ready for skaters yet, nor is Lacombe Lake.

The downtown freezeway in Lions Park is also open

More information about the city's outdoor rinks, as well as a complete list of which ice surfaces are open or still closed, is available on the city's website.
