A collision between a gravel truck and a small car on Highway 37 was fatal to the car’s driver.
Morinville RCMP were called out to the accident scene on Highway 37 near Starkey Road about 6 a.m. Tuesday.
The car, a small Toyota sedan, was travelling eastbound when it collided with a gravel truck heading westbound, killing the male driver in the car.
Highway 37 was closed for a large portion of the day yesterday as investigators looked into the accident.
Staff Sgt. Mac Richards said the investigation was still in the preliminary stages and an accident analyst was at the scene trying to determine which vehicle might have crossed the centre line.
“It is still pretty early.”
The RCMP was still in the process of notifying the family and Richards was not releasing any more information on the victim.
Richards said there was little they could say about the cause of the accident, but they were willing to rule out road conditions at this point.
