A man who was arrested in St. Albert recently and charged with second-degree murder will appear in Edmonton Provincial Court on March 5 at 9 a.m.
Kenneth Courtorielle, 35, faces charges in connection to the disappearance of Billie Wynell Johnson, 30, who was reported missing in late December. Courtorielle was arrested by the Edmonton Police Service with the help of local RCMP on Feb. 9.
Johnson was reported missing on Dec. 28, 2020. The mother of two was last seen on Christmas Eve. Her disappearance was out of character, and EPS said in a media release its homicide section concluded she was deceased after an extensive investigation.
At the time of her disappearance, Johnson had dark hair, stood five feet seven inches tall and weighed approximately 140 pounds. She had a flower tattoo on her left shoulder and a tattoo down her fore-arm that said “Gianna.” She was last seen wearing tan hiking boots, black pants, a grey or blue FILA sweater and was carrying a small black Adidas tote bag with white writing.
The homicide section continues to search for Johnson’s body and has asked rural landowners around Edmonton to check their properties and contact police immediately at 780-423-4567 if they notice anything suspicious.
