The Hutchinson family of St. Albert has been named the recipients of the 2012 St. Albert Philanthropy Award. The City of St. Albert announced the award on Friday, which was National Philanthropy Day.
Also known as the owners of Daytona Homes Master Builder, Ralph, Janet, Tally, Casey and Dallas Hutchinson will receive their award May 4 at Daytona’s annual fundraising barbecue.
“The Hutchinsons’ have shown real leadership in demonstrating that it is people who make a difference, and business leaders can apply, if they choose, the significant human and financial equity they have created in a company for the betterment of a community,” said Mayor Nolan Crouse.
Between the Hutchinson family and members of Daytona’s staff, the organization volunteers or financially contributes to a raft of community projects including Habitat for Humanity, Servus Credit Union Place, minor hockey and soccer, ringette, midget AAA girls hockey, the Esso Cup, the Mayor’s Breakfast for the Youth Community Centre, the Sturgeon Hospital Foundation, the Sturgeon Hospital Golf Tournament fundraiser and the Environmental Club at Neil M. Ross Catholic School.
The St. Albert Philanthropy Award recognizes recipients for generosity in financial support and community spirit and is handed out annually. Past winners include the Jenkins family, Ash Khan and Dan Roy.
