Family and friends of a Grade 12 Paul Kane student have launched a GoFundMe to help the teen who was seriously injured in a hit-and-run in Parkland County.
Aiden Paquette was hit Monday morning by a grey 2012-2014 Chevrolet Orlando when he was crossing Highway 16 near Range Road 35 at 12:20 a.m., RCMP said. He was airlifted to the Stollery Children’s hospital.
“Aiden suffered from a large gash in his neck that had 3 pieces of glass inside that had to be removed by surgery later,” the GoFundMe page says. “He also had broken ribs, large wounds on his chest and arms and broke his front teeth. He has roughly 40 stitches total.”
Paquette and friends were headed to Wabamun Lake to celebrate their graduation when he was struck by the vehicle, according to the GoFundMe.
RCMP received a tip from the public and have arrested a 43-year-old woman who was in possession of a damaged Chevrolet Orlando.
“Due to the hit and run, Aiden will be missing the remainder of school and won’t be able to work,” the GoFundMe page says. “We are hoping to raise money to continue to support him for the next few months. Any money donated will go towards Aiden's personal bills and savings as he cannot return to his job for the summer.”
