The St. Albert RCMP are inviting the public to a fraud prevention event at West Edmonton Mall.

March is fraud prevention month and the RCMP will be partnering with multiple agencies this weekend to warn the public against fraud.

The event will be held at West Edmonton Mall at the Centre Stage (outside of the Hudson’s Bay) from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

The RCMP, Edmonton Police Service, ATB Financial, Competition Bureau, Better Business Bureau, Alberta Provincial Rural Crime Watch Association, Edmonton Police Commission, Association of Certified Fraud Examiners, Bank of Canada and Electronic Recycling Association will all be present to discuss fraud prevention.

The RCMP say that disposing of electronic devices is an important step in protecting your personal information.

The public is welcome to bring old hard drives, tapes and cell phones (without the battery) to West Edmonton Mall this Saturday to have them shredded for free by the Electronic Recycling Association.

You can also enter to win a gift basket and kids can get their photos taken with Monty the Safety Bear.
