The race for city council is heating up with another candidate throwing his hat in the ring.
This week Hannes Rudolph announced his bid for a council seat in the fall municipal election.
“I love this community. I've been here since 1989 and I think that its moved in the right direction over the years,” Rudolph said.
Rudolph said he loves the community spirit of the city and wants to help continue to develop St. Albert.
He said that he will spend the summer door-knocking and connecting with the community to find out how to best serve their needs and interests.
Rudolph said that he thinks that people are reasonable and that he will listen to the community.
On council Rudolph would like to contribute to a positive and respectful tone.
“I would like to see honest and humble dialogue between councillors, the mayor and administration and I think that I could contribute to that,” Rudolph said.
Rudolph said that he is committed to making the community a better place and has volunteered as treasurer for his church, worked with the Coats for Kids initiative and pent time volunteering with the Heritage Festival.
Currently Rudolph works for Page the Cleaner as a manager in his family's business. He said before that he worked across a variety of industries and has experience with manual labour, information technology, operations and production management, financing, budgeting and human resources.
Rudolph has spent the last few years advocating for safer roads in the community through an increase in signage in photo radar locations.
The 33-year-old is married to Naivasha and has three children, Katherine, James and Harrison. He has four siblings who live in the city and values the time he spends with his family.
Rudolph is the fourth new candidate to enter the council race. So far Natalie Joly, Craig Cameron and Jacy Eberlein have launched their council campaigns. Councillors Bob Russell and Wes Brodhead have not officially announced their campaigns but have expressed their intentions to run again.
Councillors Cam MacKay and Cathy Heron have launched campaigns to run for mayor.
Nomination day is Sept 18 and the election will be held on Oct 16.
