Have Your Best Summer Yet – At Snow Valley

More than a ski hill, you won’t believe what Snow Valley has to offer during the warmer months. Did you know that Snow Valley is the site of some of the city's hottest summer events? Or that you can comfort camp in luxury at the Rainbow Valley campground? Read on to learn about Edmonton’s best kept secret and how to enjoy this hidden gem all summer long.

Events All Summer

June 25 sees Havoc On The Hill as pro wrestlers assemble near the ski hill to battle it out. It’s all in support of the Community Initiative Program, which connects new Canadians and at-risk youth to uplifting outdoor activities.

August 20-23 sees the return of the much anticipated ESO at Snow Valley. More than 1,400 guests are expected to enjoy the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra in a beautiful outdoor setting. From festival hits to favourite classics, the orchestra delivers the music you love – and a few new songs to discover along the way.

You’ve seen Arial Park Tower from the highway, but did you know that the top platform – accessible easily by a flight of stairs with no rope climbing needed – is the site of beautiful summer nights under patio umbrellas with wine, local musicians, storytellers, and poets? Check the Snow Valley event calendar to know when these magical nights take place.

Camp in Luxury – The Domes are Open for the Season

The Rainbow Valley Campground domes are taking reservations now, bringing glamping to a new level. All three domes have heated floors, sumptuous mattresses and bedding, a fridge, coffee for your morning wake up, air conditioning, and comfortable seating. Whether you choose the romantic chalet-style dome for your anniversary, the family-friendly dome with bunk beds for the kids, or the pink and white accented dome that is perfect for bachelorettes, you are in for a treat.

Each dome transports you to a place of ultimate relaxation. The expansive windows show the gentle creek and sweeping cliffside, immediately separating you from the city’s hustle and bustle and leaving you in luxury while also ensconced in nature. Clean, quiet, and filled with the amenities you need for true comfort camping, the domes offer the ultimate escape, and you don’t even have to drive far for this unforgettable experience.

Don’t let the name fool you. Snow Valley in the summertime is a playground unlike anything else you’ve seen before. It’s a hidden gem right in the city, tucked into nature in such a way that you forget the highway is just a short trek away. It’s easy to get to, it’s affordable, and whether you are looking for an extended staycation, treating out of town guests to a very special destination, looking for the ultimate campground, seeking an adventure, want a romantic night or two away, or want to get out into nature, all this awaits – and more.

How can you enjoy all the things Snow Valley has to offer this summer? Let’s walk through a day on the site.

Your arrival is greeted with plenty of free parking and as you turn off the vehicle, in the distance you spot it – Aerial Park Tower. Over 100 elements to conquer provide three levels of challenges from beginner to expert, and with up to two hours of climb time, there is a chance to conquer them all. Will you master the hanging canoe on level three? Ride the bronco saddle on level one? Or figure out how to use the ropes to get from platform to platform on level two? Stay in your comfort zone or push your limits – with a strong harness and expertly maintained site, you are safe to play to your heart’s content. The tower is suitable for all ages and does not have a weight restriction.

After that you’ll want to do something just as fun, but where you can catch your breath, so it’s off to Whitemud Creek Mining Co. Just steps away from the tower, this attraction honours the mining company that is a foundational part of the city’s history. Relieve those glory days by purchasing a bag of mining rough from the campground office. Head to the sluice for panning instructions. Discover your treasures and take home the real gemstones and fossils that you find.

Stow your newfound treasures, because now it’s time to refuel at Creekside Eats. This food trailer serves up tacos, paninis, mini donuts, ice cream, beverages (including alcohol), and more. Garden patio seating allows you to enjoy it all in the great outdoors. In fact, from here you can see your next adventure – target golf!

Test your skill by hitting golf balls up the ski hill, aiming at novelty targets. Suitable for all ages, it's a great way to see if you can drive the ball the full 150 yards – uphill – to hit a specific target. Let’s not overlook the chance to play mini golf on site too. Both of these golf attractions are side by side.

There is no need to drive home when Rainbow Valley Campground is right on site. Campsites tucked into nature welcome you to a quiet retreat where you can tent, RV, or choose one of the aforementioned domes. Camp or glamp your way by booking ahead to secure your spot.

Wind down the evening before turning in by strolling the trails that are lined with native flora and fauna. From discovering a flower you have never seen before to getting scolded by a squirrel or sung to by a colourful bird, your nature walk on these bike-free paths is the perfect send off to a good night’s sleep.

Reservations, combo deals, seasonal pricing, and more are all available from the Snow Valley website, so don’t delay! Choose your adventure now and have your best summer without even having to leave the city.
