St. Albertans looking to stay busy this weekend have quite a few local events to choose from.
1. Volunteer fair
Residents will have the opportunity to learn about and connect with more than 60 organizations in need of community support at a city-organized volunteer fair taking place at St. Albert Centre on Saturday from 11:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m.
The volunteer fair is free to attend and registration isn't required.
“Just show up and check out where you can find the perfect fit for your volunteer time, or what programs, services and supports are available right here in St. Albert,” the city's website says about the event.
2. Sports Day
Another city-organized event taking place on Saturday is Sports Day at Servus Place.
Sports Day, which will run from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m., will give attendees the chance to learn about and try a variety of sports, and learn more about local sports organizations for those who might be hooked after trying a new sport.
Among the sport organizations who will be at Servus Place for the event is the St. Albert BMX Association, the St. Albert Rams Lacrosse Club, the St. Albert Canoe and Kayak Club, the St. Albert Rugby Football Club, the St. Albert Ringette Association, and many more.
“Admission is no-cost and there is something for all ages and abilities,” the city's website says.
3. Drag Brunch
The Edmonton-based Party Queens will be performing a drag show over brunch at the Glasshouse Kitchen in the Enjoy Centre on Saturday from 10:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.
“Make your way to either our 10:30 a.m. or 1:30 p.m. seatings and enjoy a delicious brunch served alongside unforgettable drag performances,” the event's website reads.
Tickets start at $20 per person and tables can be booked for two, four, or six people.
“For groups larger than six, please also email your info and list of attendees to [email protected] so we may accommodate your group.”
“All attendees must purchase admission either in advance or at the door.”
4. Comedy Night at Endeavour Brewing
Calgary-based stand-up comedian Brittany Lyseng will be taking the stage at Endeavour Brewing on Saturday night from 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m.
Lysen, a former elevator mechanic, has appeared on CTV's Roast Battles Canada, CBC Radio's The Debaters, Kevin Hart's LOL Network, and was nominated for Canadian Screen Award in 2022.
Doors open at 6:30 p.m.
