An Edmonton man is facing 17 charges in relation to a string of vehicle break-ins in St. Albert and Sherwood Park, RCMP say.

Christopher Williams, 37, was arrested by Strathcona County Property Crimes Unit on May 8 after the unit teamed up with the St. Albert Crime Reduction Unit.

RCMP say they received reports of vehicle break-ins in the Summerwood neighbourhood of Sherwood Park earlier this month.

"Early into the investigation a suspect was identified that matched the description of an individual responsible for vehicle break-ins within the city of St. Albert," reads a May 31 RCMP release.

On May 25, police executed a search warrant at Williams' residence in Edmonton.

"Police recovered a large amount of stolen property, totalling a value of $15,000," the release says.

Williams was charged with two counts of break and enter, nine charges of theft under $5,000, one count of possession of property obtained by crime over $5,000, and five counts of possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000.

“This search warrant is a great example of an intelligence-led investigation targeting an offender who operates across jurisdictional boundaries," Supt. Dale Kendall, officer in charge of the Strathcona County RCMP was quoted as saying in the release.

“We will continue to work with our community partners, neighbouring detachments, and listen to our residents to address crime concerns they may have."

Williams was remanded into custody and is scheduled to appear at the Alberta Court of Justice in Sherwood Park, although the release doesn't say when.
