The St. Albert Crime Stoppers Association is asking for your assistance in solving the following crimes:

Theft of car, ATV and trailer

On Thursday, Sept. 15, St. Albert RCMP received a report of a stolen vehicle along with its trailer. A resident who was moving into a home on Lamoureux Place in St. Albert reported that he’d parked his 2007 silver Chevrolet Impala four-door car on the street in front of his new residence on the evening of Sept. 14. The car was locked and was hitched to a six foot by six foot homemade black trailer that had a four-wheeled ATV on it. The ATV was a 2008 black 650 Can Am. The ATV and its trailer are missing along with the car. Neighbourhood enquiries failed to turn up any leads about the theft.

Break-in to historic buildings

Overnight from Sept. 14 to Sept. 15, person(s) unknown broke into three historic buildings on Meadowview Drive in St. Albert. The buildings, which are slated to be restored, had their front doors pried open. It does not appear that anything inside the buildings was disturbed or stolen.

Break-in to chiropractic business

On the evening of Tuesday, Sept. 13, someone broke into the Restoration Chiropractic clinic located at 51 Inglewood Dr. in St. Albert. The business owner had left the business at approximately 7:30 p.m. and within 10 minutes, he received a call from his alarm company of a break-in to his business. Entry to the clinic was made by prying open the entrance door. Once inside, the suspect(s) stole an undisclosed amount of cash from the business. Nothing else appeared to have been disturbed by the suspects.

Graffiti spree

Overnight on Sept. 12 and Sept. 13 person(s) unknown spray-painted several areas of the Kinex and Akinsdale arenas with gold spray paint. The front, side and rear doors of both arenas had gold spray paint on them. As well, a green power box near Atwood Drive and another power box on Abbey Crescent had gold paint sprayed on them.

The City of St. Albert takes the graffiti problem seriously. “Graffiti is a serious crime that impacts all residents. For property owners and taxpayers, it’s a financial burden. For communities, it can devalue their worth and leave others with a negative impression of our city. But together, we can tackle graffiti in a way that ensures St. Albert remains a safe, picturesque community that we are all proud to call home.”

Break and enter to residence

Overnight on Tuesday, Aug. 23, someone entered an attached garage of a residence located on Deer Ridge Drive in St. Albert, and stole a large red roller tool cabinet. Entry to the garage was gained through the side door and the tool cabinet containing several thousand dollars of tools was removed. The next day the cabinet was found tipped over further down Deer Ridge Drive. It would appear that the suspect(s) could not lift the tool cabinet back up on its wheels after it had fallen over, so it was abandoned on its side on the driveway of a residence. The tools and the cabinet were then returned to the owner.

Although several residents in the neighbourhood heard noises and saw a suspicious man in the area where the break-in happened around 4 a.m. on the night of this incident, no one reported the disturbances to police. When the owner of the residence discovered the break and enter and the theft of the tool cabinet on Aug. 24, he called the police. To date, no leads have developed on this crime.

St. Albert RCMP is looking for your help on this crime. If you hear suspicious activity or see suspicious people in your neighbourhood, call the RCMP immediately. If it turns out to be someone with a legitimate reason to be out, at least it will be verified. If it turns out to be someone committing a crime, you may have been instrumental in protecting your neighbourhood by calling the police.
