An April 6 article on mountain pine beetle said that, according to researcher Janice Cooke, the beetle had spread to trees in the Smoky Lake region. Cooke has since said that she meant to say Slave Lake, and that the beetles have advanced to a point near Slave Lake. The Gazette regrets the error.
