The outdoor rinks were only open for about three months, as an unseasonably warm fall meant the rinks weren't safe for skating until mid-December.
The warm temperatures to start the week are only expected to get warmer by the weekend, as the Weather Network is forecasting St. Albert's daytime highs to reach 8 degrees Celsius on Saturday, March 16, and 11 degrees Celsius on Sunday, March 17.
Residents who aren't quite ready to hang up the skates until next winter can head to Kinex Arena on Sunday for a free public skate from 1:45 p.m. to 3:15 p.m..
