Businesses in Campbell Park are getting on board the block party trend with an upcoming gathering.
The St. Albert Fast Track Group is hosting the event Friday afternoon at 12:30 p.m. in front of its offices at 20 Carleton Dr.
Amanda Leonard, who works with the company, said the block party was a great opportunity to get to know their neighbour.
“We decided that with Campbell Business Park, we don’t really know our neighbours that well and there is a lot of new businesses in the are and why not?”
Leonard said there has been a fair amount of crime and vandalism in the area and hosting an event like this will help people get to know each other and look out for neighbours.
“It is a good way for all of us to look out for each other.”
As of Tuesday, Leonard said they were expecting about 90 people to attend. Organizers just hope everyone in the area will get to know a little more about each other, she added.
“It will just be a way for all of us to meet each other and see what everybody does. It is a really diverse area. When I went around and polled all the neighbours I was surprised. There is everything from a yoga studio to FortisAlberta.”
Although most block parties have been in residential neighbourhoods, there is no reason why businesses shouldn’t also take part, she added.
