The St. Albert fire department responded to three early morning grass fires on Monday morning in the Grandin area.

The three fires were all in Grandin and started at around 1 a.m., 4:30 a.m. and 5 a.m. and were all extinguished within the hour.

St. Albert Fire Services are reminding all residents that dry vegetation in our open natural areas, when exposed in spring, can cause a fire hazard.  They fire department asks residents to not dispose of cigarettes carelessly while driving or walking and to use caution when in open natural areas to prevent fires. Weather conditions like temperature and humidity can change rapidly in the spring and summer and increase the hazard in open areas.

The Gazette will have more to come.
