Attempted murder suspect appears
A 27-year-old woman facing charges of attempted murder put her matter over until next month when she appeared in St. Albert provincial court on Monday.Crystal Lynn Erickson will appear in court on July 9 at 9:30 a.m. for election and plea at the St. Albert provincial court.
The Edmonton resident is facing charges of attempted murder, aggravated assault, breach of conditions and a weapons offence.
On Feb. 28 just before midnight, the St. Albert RCMP was called to a disturbance at a residence in the Pineview neighbourhood in St. Albert. A woman was arrested after a 27-year-old man was seriously injured. The man’s condition and the manner of his injuries have not been disclosed.
Trafficking charges put over
Three men accused of trafficking fentanyl will appear in St. Albert provincial court on June 25.The charges were laid against three men after the St. Albert RCMP seized enough fentanyl to cause up to 7,500 lethal doses.
A two-month-long drug investigation by the St. Albert RCMP has led to three men facing a slew of charges relating to drug trafficking.
On Jan. 24, the St. Albert RCMP, Edmonton Police, RCMP Clandestine Laboratory Enforcement and Response team and the Alberta Law Enforcement Response Team carried out a search warrant at an Edmonton residence.
Although the men are from Edmonton and the bust happened in Edmonton, Cpl. Laurel Kading of the St. Albert RCMP said that some of the drug activity occurred in St. Albert.
Pure fentanyl the size of two grains of salt can be enough to cause a lethal overdose, Kading noted.
Subeer Hamud Jama, 31, of Edmonton has been charged with possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of a crime over $5,000, trafficking fentanyl, possession of proceeds of a crime under $5,000 and obstructing a peace officer.
Ali Foureh Waiss, 34, of Edmonton is facing five charges of possession of proceeds of a crime under $5,000 and four counts of trafficking heroin.
Kabambi Khamba, 31, of Edmonton is facing charges of possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking, possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking, possession of proceeds of a crime over $5,000, possession of proceeds of a crime under $5,000, possession of heroin for the purpose of trafficking and possession of crack cocaine for the purpose of trafficking.
All three men appeared in the St. Albert provincial court on Monday. The trio put their matters over to June 25 at 9:30 a.m. for election and plea.
Khamba remains in custody, while Waiss and Jama have been released on bail.
