St. Albert RCMP say a 911 call and response from emergency services on Tuesday morning in Akinsdale was non-criminal in nature, with no charges being laid and nobody being transported to hospital for medical care.

Residents scrolling Facebook and Twitter yesterday morning were caught off-guard when a social media account, Radioyeg, which usually posts information from emergency services scanners in the Edmonton area, posted that St. Albert RCMP, firefighters, and paramedics were responding to an “alleged stabbing” in the Akinsdale neighbourhood.

Corp. Morgan Kyle with the St. Albert RCMP detachment said in an email to the Gazette that although many details of the incident cannot be shared due to privacy legislation, there wasn't a stabbing, nor was there any risk to the public.

“RCMP responded to a 911 call of an injured individual in the Akinsdale area,” Kyle said. “The matter was non-criminal and there was no risk to the public.”

“Police did not place anyone under arrest or transport anyone and no charges will be laid.”

On Facebook, Radioyeg's post was shared 40 times, with 52 comments and over 100 reactions in about 27 hours.
