LETTERS

Dear Editor,

Re: "Boat Station Cleans Up", St. Albert Gazette, July 24, page A3:

While City of St. Albert senior natural area asset specialist Melisa Logan’s efforts to combat alien invaders into the Sturgeon River are commendable, there’s a larger issue with this river being neglected. Once a pristine waterway, the Sturgeon River has become a weed infested, rank-smelling cesspool – VERY unattractive to both boaters and anglers.

On a recent broadcast of the KSPS series. “Human Footprint” (episode 5 – Damned If You Do) they featured the most recent environmental efforts to return some semblance of normalcy to natural flow of the Colorado River. I believe we should be expanding our efforts with the Sturgeon River to do the same. Its a shame that this recreation resource is being sadly neglected.
