Sexual Misconduct Response Centre executive director Denise Preston said she has been pushing the Armed Forces to provide more information about incidents of sexual misconduct in the ranks so the response centre can provide better oversight, but that military commanders have resisted on privacy grounds.

On Thursday, Fraser announced the government surpassed its ambitious immigration target of 401,000 new permanent residents for 2021 — the most newcomers in a year in Canada's history. 

People who use the system complained that exemptions and exclusions were “excessively applied,” preventing the disclosure of relevant government information. 

UCP spokesman Dave Prisco said government officials decided to proceed with the party because the venue was compliant with regulations and the health minister had given the advice only a short time before.

There will be $5 million a year toward recruitment and retention strategies in rural and remote areas, and $2.5 million a year for relocation assistance.

Tim Richter, CEO of the Canadian Alliance to End Homelessness said homeless camps are growing across Canada and there are more people without housing. There are also compounding crises as housing affordability deteriorates and drug overdose deaths spike.

“Survivors need to be able to choose if, when, and where they feel safe to report,” it reads.

The temporary policy will apply from Dec. 19 to Feb. 12.

It is estimated that the Omicron variant made up about 88 per cent of cases as of Tuesday in Ontario.
