The City of St. Albert has issued a fire advisory, effective immediately, in response to dry and windy conditions.

“The advisory has been issued due to dry, windy and increased fire conditions,” reads a city news release. “Permitted fires are still allowed, but a restriction or ban may be issued if conditions worsen.”

“We are asking that everyone do their part in reducing the risk.”

The release also says that residents should be cautious when using a backyard firepit, and all wood burning firepits need to have a screen to prevent sparks from hitting the ground.

“Residents are asked to use extra caution with propane and natural gas outdoor appliances, and dispose of smoking materials (cannabis, cigarettes, cigars, matches or lighters) properly,” the release says.

“St. Albert Fire Services will continue to monitor the situation and a ban or restriction could be issued.”

“Updates will be provided on stalbert.ca and albertafirebans.ca.”
