May 1st is the ASQ Fair Play Day: Assessment Forms for Children

SPONSORED CONTENT – “Is my child’s development on track?” This is the question every parent asks themselves and it’s a fair one. With so many mitigating factors, it can be hard to determine if your child is hitting recommended development milestones.

It can also be difficult to find the professionals and assessments that help determine developmental progress. On May 1, parents have a fast, easy, and fun way to find out. St. Albert Family Resource Centre is hosting an Ages & Stages (ASQ) Fair Play Day.

What is the ASQ Fair Play Day? The ASQ is a developmental screening tool that pinpoints developmental progress in children between the ages of 1 month to 5 ½ years. St. Albert Family Resource Centre is partnering with local professionals and businesses so families can access early intervention activities, information and tools, and meet firsthand with speech therapists, occupational therapists, physiotherapists, early learning educators, and local services available in the community. It all takes place on May 1 from 10 am to 2 pm at Servus Place.

In addition to the opportunity to complete the ASQ assessment (a $5 Tim Horton’s gift card is offered to parents who complete the questionnaire), attendees can look forward to an engaging setup with tables and stations, each offering information, resources, and/or a unique activity for children. By visiting these tables, families not only gain valuable insights into developmental play but also have a chance to win one of three door prizes (which are Bluey and Paw Patrol themed).

Adding to the excitement, special guests include Bluey and Chase from Paw Patrol!

Currently confirmed for attendance are: Primary Care Network, FUNctional Therapy, St. Albert Fire Department, St. Albert Police, Treehouse, St. Albert Library, Education Station, St. Albert Gymnastics, Transitions, Mascots, Alberta Health Services, City of St. Albert, and Servus Place.

In line with the St. Albert Family Resource Centre's commitment to supporting families, attendance at the ASQ Fair Play Day is completely free of charge. Families interested in participating are encouraged to drop in and enjoy the day.

Early childhood is a critical period for development, and early intervention can play a significant role in ensuring children reach their full potential. The ASQ Fair Play Day offers a unique platform for families to access valuable resources and professional advice, all while enjoying a day filled with fun activities tailored for children.

The ASQ Fair Play Day represents a wonderful opportunity for families in the St. Albert area to engage in meaningful play and learning experiences. With a variety of activities, screenings, and resources available, it's an event that underscores the importance of community and early childhood development. Mark your calendars for May 1st, 2024 and be part of a day that promises to be both informative and immensely enjoyable for the whole family.
