Pets don't belong in airplane cabins

Lisa Ryan’s Feb. 4 opinion on an “obvious personal hatred of cats” regarding the Jan. 28 Our View in the Gazette of not allowing cats on airplane is a rant unto itself.

Out of curiosity I retrieved the Jan. 28 Our View, and read it within the context of my own expertise as a cat owner for the past 40 or so years, in which time I have had the opportunity to be personally acquainted with nine felines. I believe the Our View may offer a personal hatred of animals flying with humans in the cabin of an aircraft, not just cats, and quite frankly I agree with the opinion offered.

I do not place this opinion in a context of personal hatred, just unnecessary, and potentially unpleasant to other travellers in the form of allergies, noise, smell and the other stuff that goes along with having an animal in a relatively confined space. Airlines should offer concessions to their passengers for personal circumstances, but these concessions should not extend to the passenger’s pets.
