One of the most common questions one sees on social media goes something like this:

“Who’s got the best (insert name of food/product/service here) in town?”

And every time you see it asked, you see a lot of different answers, and often some pretty spirited debate.

But what if there were a place where thousands of people had already given their opinion on more than 100 different categories and the top choices were all organized neatly for you?

It's right here.

The 2024 St. Albert Gazette Readers Choice Awards is the product of more than 24,000 votes cast for more than 250 local businesses in more than 120 different categories.

Call it word of mouth on steroids.

The Readers Choice program has a history dating back more than 14 years in St. Albert. Many of the businesses listed here in this special publication have won awards in their categories for many years running, while many are celebrating their first Readers Choice Award here.

What makes it work is right in the name – it’s you, the reader.

A Readers Choice Award is an honour that can’t be bought by a business. It can only be earned from you – our readers. And the voters, as they say, are never wrong.

St. Albert is a fortunate city to have so many community-minded, locally owned companies who are committed to quality and customer service. This special section is your guide to who your neighbours know, love and trust with their business. Hang on to it and use it the next time you’re looking for a service, an experience or something new to try – and watch for the coveted Readers Choice plaques hanging in your local business as the seal of approval from your community.

And more than ever, these businesses need your support. Before you place your next order online, ask yourself if one of these businesses can fulfil your needs.

To our winners listed here, congratulations and thanks for everything you do for the community, and thanks for your advertising support here in these pages and online throughout the year. Your patronage lets us tell the stories of this amazing community, and also helps us support hundreds of local groups and organizations with hundreds of thousands of dollars in advertising support.

That’s the power of shopping local. Read all about it, right here.
