The 14th annual St. Albert Readers’ Choice Awards kicks off on May 16 to celebrate the city’s finest businesses and this year the Gazette has added more categories to honour the city’s favourites.

Every year St. Albertans head to the digital polls to recognize the people, places and businesses they love in the city of St. Albert  by voting for them.

Voting will be open from May 16 until May 31 with winners being announced in the June 20 issue of the St. Albert Gazette and online at stalbertgazette.com.

The awards recognize the best of the best, from specialty businesses, restaurants, professional services and clinics, to the top neighbourhood and even the best local politician of St. Albert.

Bigger and better

But this year readers can vote on even more categories than ever before. The Gazette has added 40 new categories to recognize even more businesses that make our community an amazing place to live.

Readers can vote on the best donair/shawarma shop, golf course, Asian cuisine restaurant, home-based business, chicken wings and drive-thru on top of dozens of other new and exciting categories.

Also new this year is a $250 gift card prize for one random voter. The winner will get to pick which of this year's Readers Choice winners they want a gift card from, furnished by the Gazette.

2023 winners

Among the highlights from last year's winners, Barkers Pet Motel and Grooming emerged victorious as the chosen favourite in a city filled with pet enthusiasts for Best Pet Groomer.

St. Albert NDP MLA Marie Renaud scored the top spot as the city’s favourite politician, just weeks after winning her third term representing St. Albert at the provincial legislature.

Grandin Bakery came out on top as best bakery. The Hooimeyer family bought the bakery in 1976 and it was located in the old Grandin Mall and the bakery has become an award-winning, time-honoured institution in the city.

The St. Albert Readers’ Choice Awards is a chance to recognize businesses and individuals and shine a light on the great work they are doing for the city.

With a population now over 70,000, Readers Choice is an opportunity to recognize the people and businesses who built the city and made it the outstanding community that it is.

The kindness and generosity of local entrepreneurs can still make a tremendous impact in the life of residents.

Have your say in who receives the top awards this year by heading to stalbertgazette.com to cast your votes starting on May 16.
