Votes are being tallied for the 2023 St. Albert Gazette Readers' Choice Awards and results will be announced on June 22nd

The Readers' Choice Awards program, which the Gazette runs annually, gives St. Albertans the opportunity to show their appreciation and support for local businesses, community leaders, and elected officials.

There are six main award categories, including businesses and services, shopping, food and drink, people and places, professionals, and body and mind. Each category is further separated into specific services or businesses to recognize the unique qualities and purpose of each hopeful award recipient.

For example, there are 26 sub-categories for the businesses and services awards, ranging from best daycare to best gas station.

Some local fixtures, elected officials, and businesses looking to take top prize back-to-back years include the Giroux Road and St. Albert Trail intersection, which has been voted longest red light for two years running; St. Albert-Edmonton MP Michael Cooper for favourite local politician; and Lynn Kolpak, the owner of Socrates Restaurant, who was voted favourite server and favourite bartender in 2022.

Winners receive a personalized plaque, which they are encouraged to show-off to the public.
