LETTER: Regarding transit, consultation is key

"If we wish our society to survive, we must do so in a spirit of collaboration not confrontation."

If we are going to successfully move on as a region, then it is imperative that we involve the people whose livelihoods are impacted by regional changes. It is all very well to state that the people who work at the grassroots level cannot be involved because the citizens would be angry if we allow the workforce representation. Remember they are citizens too! I do not believe that one voice at the table will cause a revolution; the insights provided may well enhance the process.

We have seen what happens when there is a lack of open consultation – doctors, nurses, teachers have provided us with examples of what can happen when service providers are cut out of the equation. If we wish our society to survive, we must do so in a spirit of collaboration not confrontation.

Elizabeth Allchin, St. Albert
