LETTER: Let's work together to make dog parks, trails safe for all

"We love St. Albert, the parks and dogs, but we need to work together and respect rules to make all parks safe for everyone!"

Like Judy Loutit ("Practise safety on city walking trails," June 24 Gazette), my husband and I enjoy getting on the trails in Red Willow Park. Like Judy, we have many concerns with the cyclists who come barrelling around corners. We go out with our dogs and we do not want them blamed for an accident.

If you come racing up behind a dog, the dog will likely get scared and out of fright leap at you as you go by. As Judy suggested, please shout out "Bike on the left!" As soon as we get this warning, we go to the side, to make room for you, and to keep you and our dog safe.

Speaking of dogs and the parks, please leash your dog if you are in an on-leash area. My dog was attacked recently by a dog off leash and totally out of control. We love St. Albert, the parks and dogs, but we need to work together and respect rules to make all parks safe for everyone!
