LETTER: Don't pull Alberta out of CPP

"Mr. Kenney’s thinking will leave Alberta's future seniors paying more than if we stay in CPP."
letter-sta

Premier Jason Kenney is considering pulling out of the Canada Pension Plan (CPP) because Alberta will save millions of dollars now. All because we have a young population. This ignores the inevitable aging of our population. Wait, and we will be taking more out of CPP than putting in, with a net gain to Alberta.

That time-frame of thinking is well beyond the four-year election cycles that Mr. Kenney considers.

Mr. Kenney’s thinking will leave Alberta's future seniors paying more than if we stay in CPP.  But, who cares, as it’ll be another politician’s problem?

I care now!

Don’t pull Alberta out of CPP. Bad move for short-term votes.

Glenn Walmsley, St. Albert
