March 27, 1930 - December 12, 2022
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Jiri Selner.
He leaves behind his wife Milada and daughters Milada and Jarmila,
and grandson Justin.
Jiri was born March 27, 1930 in Prague, Czechoslovakia. He came to
Canada in September 1968 to do his Fellowship Studies in Forestry at
UBC in Vancouver. He was joined by his wife and daughters in January
1969. After Jiri finished his studies the family moved to Fernie BC. While
there Jiri worked for Kaiser Resources. In 1972 the family moved to St. Albert.
Jiri worked for the Provincial Government in the department of Lands and
Forests. In 1978 Jiri switched to Real Estate and enjoyed a successful career
until retiring in 2000.
Jiri enjoyed being in nature, fishing, traveling, cooking, and watching Oilers
hockey games. We will miss him.
We would like to thank the staff in unit 15 at the Sturgeon General for taking
care of Jiri.
