March 16, 1940 – July 18, 2025
It is with deep love and reverence that we announce the passing of Marilyn Lianne Pearse, who left this world peacefully on July 18, 2025, at the age of 85. A beloved mother, grandmother, wife, and friend, she touched countless lives with her warmth, soft heart, and courageous, unwavering spirit.
Marilyn was a pillar of goodness and light in our community. She brought beauty into the world in many ways—from her love of music, animals, and gardening to the way she made people feel seen and cared for. She was known for her generous heart, her gift for friendship, and her love of connection—whether as a kind neighbour, a gracious host at her dinner table, a walking companion, or an enthusiastic supporter at concerts and cultural events.
She shared her gifts freely. As a dedicated piano teacher and choir director, she poured her love into teaching children and youth for many years. Her impact lives on in the hearts of those she mentored, inspired, and encouraged. Her legacy is music—and the joy, confidence, and community it created.
Family was at the centre of her world. She leaves behind her husband of 61 years, Clifford; her daughters, Laura (Gary) and Jackie (Mike); and her beloved grandson, Pearse—who will forever carry her love and light. Though her final years were shaped by the challenges of dementia, her strength, compassion, grace, and love never faded.
Our deepest gratitude goes to the incredible staff at the River Ridge Memory Care Unit for the loving care they gave our mom over the past three years. Your compassion and kindness will never be forgotten.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. A private family service will be held when she is interred at the family plot in Calgary. If you have a memory of Marilyn you’d like to share, please email [email protected].
Her beloved Sunshine Choristers sang this song in the 1980s—it was one of her favourites:
“Step into the sunshine,
Get out of the shade,
This is the one time,
That you’ve got it made.
And you can feel yourself smilin’,
Way down to your shoes,
Step into the sunshine,
Find the great Good News.”
