Wilhelm (Willy) Josef Leyer, 84, of St. Albert, passed away peacefully on July 23, 2025, at Foyer Lacombe Hospice.
He was born on February 10, 1941, in Munster, Germany. Willy was a beloved father & grandfather/Opa. He had a full retirement, after serving 31 yrs, with the City of Edmonton Fire Department. As most firefighters do, Willy had a side job working for Edmonton stagehands right into his late seventies. Beyond his career he loved spending time at the local hockey rink throughout the winter months & loved the outdoors during the summer, often found reading his book on a nearby park bench.
Sadly, he was recently predeceased by his son Jason (2025). He is survived by his son Jeff (Karen), his granddaughters Chesa (Matt), Karlee (Spencer), grandsons Nick and Ethan, and his great grandchildren, Juniper, Ruby, and Gem.
