1967 – 2020
It is with profound sadness that the family of Darrel Joseph Mason announce his sudden
passing on October 26, 2020 at the age of 53 years. He leaves to mourn his spouse of 16 years, Karen; two daughters: Hannah and Emily; stepson, Ryan (Janda); stepdaughters: Cara (Alfredo) and Gabrielle; brother, Gregg (Tricia); sisters: Melanie (Jay) and Rhonda; mom, Helen; grandchildren: Mateas and Lorenzo; numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins, and good friends.
He was predeceased by his father, Tom, in 2018.
Darrel was born in Hudson Bay, Saskatchewan in May of 1967. He lived in many small towns in Saskatchewan and Manitoba as a youth and moved to St. Albert, Alberta in 1985. He was blessed with two beautiful daughters, Hannah in 1994 and Emily in 1996. They were the light of his life. He met Karen in 2004 and they were together ever since. He always joked about how when he met her, he heard her laugh first before he saw her, and that was it. They were truly soul mates. Darrel worked for the past 15 years at Sleep Country where he was a valued employee and a friend to all. Darrel loved nothing more than a day of fishing or golfing. His favorite memories were his yearly fishing trips at Long Lake with his girls. He enjoyed watching sports and would never miss an Oilers or Roughriders game, and supported the Cleveland Browns no matter what. He also loved going to concerts, hanging out and playing pool with his friends, and spending time with his beloved dog Chanel.
Darrel will be remembered for his larger than life personality and his ability to captivate any gathering with his storytelling. He was incredibly loving and cherished Karen, his daughters and his family with all of his heart. Darrel was passionate about every single aspect of his life - except eating vegetables.
