It is with profound sorrow that we announce the peaceful passing of Henriette Rosemarie Martin (nee Sinotte) of St. Albert, Alberta on May 3, 2025 at the age of 81.

Henriette is lovingly remembered by her devoted husband, Ed Petryliak; sister, Terry (Phil) Richards; children, Greg (Jill and Nicole); stepchildren Brad Petryliak and Terry Reyes; cherished grandchildren, Meghan, Jacob, Laurel, Abby, Sawyer, Saige and Monroe.  She also leaves behind numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

She was predeceased by her first husband, Frank Martin; parents, Henry and Agnes Sinotte; sisters, Connie, Annette, Cecile, Frances and Lorraine and her brothers Raymond and Richard.

Born in Cold Lake, Alberta, Henriette spent much of her early life in La Ronge, Saskatchewan, where she was raised alongside eight siblings.  Her experiences growing up in the North deeply shaped her character and outlook on life.  After completing her high school education Henriette pursued a career in nursing, earning her qualifications in Swift Current, Saskatchewan.   She began her nursing career in Kingston, Ontario before returning to La Ronge where she met her first husband, Frank Martin.

Following their marriage, the couple moved to Hudson's Hope, British Columbia, where they welcomed two children.  In 1972, they relocated to St. Albert, where Henriette lovingly raised their family.  After Frank's passing in 1981, Henriette displayed remarkable resilience and determination, working tirelessly to support her family while maintaining an enduring optimism, bolstered by the love of friends and relatives.

In 1993, Henriette met Ed Petryliak at a dance and a beautiful new chapter in her life began.  They were married in September 2011 and shared many joyful years, travelling and building a life filled with mutual love and companionship.

Henriette, affectionately known as "Grandma Henri," had a special bond with her grandchildren and was a constant, loving presence in their lives.  She never hesitated to express her affection for her family and friends and her warmth and generosity will be deeply missed. The family wishes to extend heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Sturgeon Community Hospital for their compassionate care during Henriette's final days.

A Funeral Service was held in her honour on Tuesday, May 13, 2025 at 11:00 AM at Memories Funeral Home, located at 13403 St. Albert Trail, NW.  Henriette's life was one of love, strength and grace.  She will be remembered with deep affection by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
