It is with broken hearts that the family of Jerome Hastings announces his passing.
Born in Wetaskiwin, Alberta on February 16, 1944. Jerome joined the Navy in the 1960’s and then spent a few years working in the mining industry in BC. Jerome moved back to Alberta in the 1980’s and went to Grant MacEwan to be a Social Worker. He worked for Social Services for many years in St. Albert/Edmonton area, and in the downtown core helping the most under served communities. As the years went by, he went on to get a master’s degree in business from the U of A. He spent many years as the service manager for various Social Services offices in the area and finally retired in 2020. He then went on to become a security guard and worked in the Edmonton area until 2024. He was an amazing friend; throughout his life he helped so many people find sobriety, safety, and self-confidence. He was always there with a ready hand-up and had a lasting impact on many throughout the years. He was loved immensely by his family. He was an amazing dad, grandpa, brother, and friend. He will be deeply missed by his family and all those who knew him.
Jerome is predeceased by many that he loved, including his father, mother, and 2 brothers. He is survived by his daughter, Tammy; stepson, Mark (Tammi); grandson, Brad; great grandson, Bentley; as well as many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
The family would like to extend a special thank you to the doctors and staff at the Sturgeon Hospital as well as the amazing staff at Foyer Lacombe. Thank you for making his last days as comfortable and meaningful as possible.
A Celebration of Life will be held Friday, September 12, 2025 at 2:00 p.m. at St. Albert Funeral Home Connelly- Mckinley, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert.
