It is with deepest sadness to announce the unexpected passing of Kenneth Leonard Kohlruss, on March

15, 2022, of Sturgeon County, Alberta. Ken was the most loving, caring, generous and thoughtful man.

Ken was born in Edmonton, Alberta on January 5, 1960, and grew up on the family farm northeast of

Clyde, Alberta where he attended grade school and then graduated from R.F. Staples School in

Westlock. It was not much thereafter he met the love of his life of 40 Years, Gwen.

Ken and Gwen, a few years later decided to set up roots in St. Albert, Alberta where they raised their

sons, Mathew and Quintin.

 

Ken was very successful in his career in construction management and mentored many of those that

worked with him. He always made a lasting impression on anyone he met including friends and

colleagues. Ken was a handyman who enjoyed working with his hands. He loved building things,

operating his yard equipment and taking things apart just to put them back together. He loved and

enjoyed working with Gwen keeping their home, cabin and yard meticulously maintained. Ken had many

pastimes which he enjoyed, attending Edmonton Oil Kings hockey games, golfing, vacationing, and

spending time at the cabin, playing crib with his family.

 

Ken is survived by his loving wife Gwen, sons, Mathew (Keena), Quintin (Shawna), sister Debbie,

brothers, Garry (Lorena) and Tom (Aline), mother-in-law, Lori Mauch, brothers and sister-in-law; Greg

(Gail) Mauch, Rod (Carmen) Mauch, Brad Mauch, and Kori (Jay) Foster as well as numerous nieces,

nephews, and their family.

 

Ken was previously deceased by his father Bill, mother Helen, father-in-law, Ray Mauch.

 

A Celebration of Life will be held at Cattail Crossing Golf & Winter Resort, 24427 Township RD Sturgeon

County, AB T8T 1L4 on Sunday, April 24th, 2022 from 1 to 4 pm.
