1937 - 2022

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Lawrence Kluthe on September 12th, 2022, at the age of 85.  Lawrence was a loving husband, brother, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather. He will be forever loved and remembered by his wife of 62 years, Simone and their children: David (Lori), Tracy (Craig), Brad (Bonnie), Lyle (Lisa); his 11 grandchildren: Tim (Jenn), Dillon, Alex, Mitch (Amanda), Nicole (Jorden), Evan, Jill, Amy, Reese, Camryn, Dallas; and 4 great-grandchildren: Brielle, Kingsley, Brody, and Trevor.  He was predeceased by his sister, Elizabeth “Betty”.

He was born in Edmonton on January 10th, 1937 to August and Josephine Kluthe, the eldest of 7 siblings. Lawrence farmed with his brothers and later, with his sons.  Lawrence was an avid ball player, curler, hunter and enjoyed fishing at Island Lake where he and Simone have a cabin.  Lawrence was very community minded, he served in the roles of mayor, reeve, and councillor with Sturgeon County and numerous other government boards.

Everyone who crossed paths with Lawrence would remember him as a big man with a kind heart.  He had an imposing presence and a gentle nature.  Family has many fond memories of his wisecracks and witty comments.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held at St. Albert Catholic Church (7 St. Vital Ave.) on Thursday, September 29th, at 10:00 am.
