It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mark Kaminski on April 5th, 2025 at the Sturgeon Community Hospital at the age of 78. He is survived by his loving wife, Vicki Kaminski of St. Albert; son Ryan (Delaney) Kaminski, cherished grandkids Max, Finn, Taya and Ruby, all of Calgary, as well as others who had special relationships with him. His absence will be felt forever in our hearts, and he will be truly missed.

Mark was born in Lloydminster, Saskatchewan on September 5, 1946. He is predeceased by his son, Matt Kaminski, his sister Eva Marie, and parents John and Marguerite Kaminski, both former teachers in the St. Albert education system. It was while at Cold Lake Air Force Base in 1961 that Mark first met Vicki (Fallis), his future wife of 53 years.

In earlier years, Mark was a man of many talents. Although his working career was in sales and marketing, he was creative and competent with a natural ability to make furniture from scratch and renovate the family home, all without a blueprint. But his true passion was in the great outdoors riverboating, hunting, and camping. It was not unusual to see him standing at the helm of the “Dream Weaver” on the North Saskatchewan River any sunny day or weekend with his wife and two boys, packed and ready for an adventure. That was his happy place.

Mark dealt with numerous health issues in recent years that would have taken down anyone less tenacious or courageous. He took it all in stride. It was ultimately Influenza A and pneumonia that slipped in the back door and brought his battle to an abrupt halt, taking him swiftly from us.

During the last two years, Mark was a resident of Youville Home in St. Albert. We are eternally grateful to the staff at Youville who supported us, and especially those nurses and caregivers who found a way to see past the serious façade and came to appreciate the charming and witty person we knew him to be. He is remembered for his “Big Smile” to anyone who came into his room and got his attention.
