Fred passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 4, 2023. Fred was born in Chestermere Lake, Alberta on October 26 1929, to Johan and Magnhild Holan. After pursuing an Engineering degree in Butte Montana, he met his wife of 66 years, Barbara, and the two raised a family of 6. Fred and Barb loved to travel, highlighted when Fred took a job transfer to work in UAE. They retired in Drayton Valley and later St Albert with winters in Sun City Arizona.
Predeceased by his parents and brothers Bob and Jack, Fred is survived by his brother Henry, Fred’s wife Barbara, their children Robert, Deborah, Nancy, Geoffrey, Linda, and Howard, 9 grandchildren, and 3 great grandchildren. Maintaining his intellect, sense of humour, and love of family, Fred often said, what more could a person ask for out of life.
