Our beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. Laurie Garriock, passed away with her family at her side on January 6, 2023 at the age of 71 years.
Laurie is lovingly remembered by Bruce, her husband of 49 years; children, Jonelle (Greg), Nolan (Kelsie), and Jeff; grandchildren, Ethan, Meadow, Emily, and Van; brother, Bob; sister, Betty; sister-in-law, Maggie; nieces: Brittney (Cliff and son Zach), Carrie and Heather, as well as numerous relatives and friends. Laurie was predeceased by her parents, Edith and Steve Latoski.
Laurie loved being a mom and a grandma even more. The kids were her world and she has left each of them with wonderful memories of mom/grandma.
Laurie also loved her job as a social worker and child welfare trainer for Child and Family Services from November 1998 until declining health forced her retirement in June, 2016.
What Laurie did not love were the numerous huge dogs (Old English Mastiffs, Newfoundland and Irish Wolfhound) that Bruce and kids insisted be part of the family throughout the years. However, to her credit, she weathered this canine storm with infinite patience, thereby creating many entertaining memories.
A Celebration of Life will be held at 2:00p.m. on February 10, 2023 at St. Albert Funeral Home, 9 Muir Drive, St. Albert. Memorial donations may be made in Laurie's name to Operation Friendship Seniors Society in Edmonton.
The family wishes to send a special thank you to the staff at the cardiac intensive care unit, Mazankowski Heart institute for their care and compassion.
