1949 ~ 2025
Ruth, a cherished sister, aunt, and friend, passed away peacefully from natural causes on January 5, 2025, in St. Albert, Alberta, at the age of 75.
Born on November 11, 1949, in London, Ontario, Ruth was a woman of remarkable intelligence, kindness, and generosity, whose life was a testament to her unwavering dedication to the care of others.
Ruth's journey into nursing began at the Wellesley Hospital School of Nursing in Toronto, Ontario, where she embraced her calling with passion and commitment. Her career as a registered nurse in pediatrics was marked by her deep empathy and the exceptional care she provided to her young patients. Ruth's dedication to her profession took a new direction when she joined the Canadian Armed Forces in 1975. For thirty years, she served with distinction at various bases across Canada as well as the NATO base in Geilenkirchen, Germany. Ruth's bravery and selflessness were evident in her tours of duty in Kosovo and during the civilian evacuations in Bosnia and Sarajevo, where she provided medical assistance in times of dire need.
Beyond her professional accomplishments, Ruth was known for her love of literature. An avid reader, she found joy in the pages of a good mystery and the rich tapestry of historical fiction. Her friends will fondly remember the countless hours spent in her company, sharing conversations over coffee and reveling in her quick wit and dry humor. Ruth's laughter was infectious, and her presence brought light and levity to every gathering.
Ruth is survived by her loving sisters, Lois Pritchard (nee Todd) and her husband Rob, and Barbara Bedore (nee Todd). She was a devoted aunt to her nieces, Sarah Bedore and Erin Pritchard; and nephews, Sean and Chris Pritchard; along with their families, who will carry forward the memory of her kind spirit and generous heart.
In the tapestry of lives she touched, Ruth will be remembered as a beacon of strength and compassion. Her legacy lives on in the countless lives she improved, both through her professional care and her personal interactions. Those who knew Ruth will continue to be inspired by her life's work and the indelible mark she left on the world.
As we bid farewell to Ruth Ellen Davis, we celebrate a life lived with purpose and grace. Her memory will be cherished and her contributions to the lives of others will never be forgotten.
