1938 ~ 2025
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Doris Cruse, who left us on March 10, 2025, at the age of 86, after a valiant battle with cancer.
Born July 9, 1938, in Dunrea, Manitoba, Doris’ journey through life was shared with her beloved husband, Ed, for an incredible 65 years. Together in St. Albert, they built a family that was her pride and joy: children, Michelle (Gerald Spicer), Edwin (Judy), Martine (Stephan Pertschy), and Rod (Shelly); grandchildren, Andrea (Trevor Russell), Danielle, Ethan, Justin (Ashley), Lee, Evan, Brennan, Rachel, Adam, and Brianna; and great-grandchildren, Thomas, Jackson, and Lana. Each of them was touched by Doris’ unwavering support, her infectious laughter, and her ability to make every moment a celebration.
Professionally, Doris was a respected sales representative with Nestle, where her charisma and dedication made her a favorite among colleagues and clients aike. Her work was not just a job but a platform to connect with people, to share stories, and to spread her infectious optimism.
Doris’ interests were as vibrant and varied as her personality. She was a master of the cribbage board, a dancer who could light up any room with her favorite tunes, and a gardener whose blooms were the envy of the neighborhood. Her love for shopping was matched only by her joy in family gatherings, where she was often the heart and soul of the festivities. Doris also found solace and pleasure in quieter moments, solving crosswords with a sharp mind and losing herself in the pages of a good book.
To have known Doris was to know a life filled with adventure, love, and laughter. La Joie de Vivre! Her memory will be a guiding star for all who had the privilege of her company, reminding us that life, no matter the challenges, is a beautiful dance worth every step.
Doris Cruse’s story is not one of an end but a continuing narrative of love, joy, and the power of a positive outlook. Her legacy is a testament to the fact that one person’s light can indeed illuminate the lives of many. Doris, you will be dearly missed, but your spirit will forever dance in the hearts of those you’ve left behind.
The family will be holding a private service and wish to thank the staff at The Grey Nuns Palliative Care and The Foyer Lacombe Hospice. A special thank you to Dr. Robert Hauptman and Dr. Tiffany Wells for their outstanding care and compassion for Doris.
Memorial donations may be made in honor of Doris to The Cross Cancer Institute.
