Irene Louise Boyd 1937-2020, age 83, passed away suddenly on March 28, 2020, due to a fatal heart attack.

She was born on March 2, 1937 in Crandall, Manitoba.

She was predeceased by her parents Edgar and Olive Lewis; husband, Glen; daughter, Kimberly; great grandson, Avery; and friend, Roy. Irene will be lovingly remembered by her daughter Maureen (David); son Glen (Brenda); grandchildren Amber (André), Crystal (Patrick), Dawn, Garret, Stephanie (Brian); and great-grandchildren André, Matthew, Ethan, Paige, and Grayson; as well as many friends.

Irene often spoke of the little village Crandall where she grew up surrounded by family and friends, riding a horse to school, or competing in oratory contests despite her aversion to being the centre of attention.  She had an adventurous spirit.

As a young woman she sailed alone to England to marry her husband Glen who was stationed in France.  They lived in Europe for a few years before coming back to Canada where they moved around a lot until eventually settling in Alberta.  Irene loved music, and she really loved to dance.  Irene and Glen spent a lot of time camping and fishing together.  She also visited Hawaii several times with her husband, Glen, and after he passed, went on many cruises with her mother.  Irene had a green thumb, and plants always seemed to thrive under her care.

She adored animals, and had a soft spot for stories that featured them.  She was a great card player, and taught her family many games including crib and bridge.  She was generous, always willing to listen, and really loved to feed people.  Coming up with costumes and dressing up (herself or anyone else she could get to cooperate) gave her a lot of joy and she always looked forward to Halloween.  She loved to laugh, and would often laugh until she cried.

She was a devoted caretaker to many people throughout her life, and her kind steady presence will be deeply missed.

Irene did not wish to have a memorial service.
