September 3, 1927 – January 29, 2020

It is with great sadness that we announce the death of Arthur Kendall at the age of 92. He will be remembered with love by his wife of 57 years, Burtine, his daughter Cheryl (Mark) and his son Paul (Mary Pat). He will also be missed by his grandchildren Jeni and Chaim, his great-grandson Jack, as well as his many nieces and nephews and friends.

Growing up on a farm in southwest Saskatchewan Art developed a deep love of family and a strong work ethic that were to be his trademarks all his life. He joined the RCAF in 1946 at 17 years of age and served in it and the Canadian Forces for 32 years, ultimately rising to the rank of Major. It was while serving in Trenton, Ontario that he met and married Burtine, the love of his life. Over the years Art and Burtine traveled to France and across Canada on military postings, raising their children and maintaining a strong bond with their extended family wherever they lived.

In retirement Art focused on spending time with his grandchildren and great-grandson, his love of Studebakers, and enjoying the company of some beautiful dogs. Art enjoyed the quiet life and was always known for his warm smile, big hugs, dry sense of humour, and his willingness to lend a hand on many projects at his children’s homes. He will be deeply missed.

At Art’s request there will be no funeral, but a celebration of his life, where family and friends are invited to come and share their memories of Art with Burtine and family, will be held in the coming weeks. An announcement of the exact date, time and venue for the celebration will be forwarded in the near future, in order to facilitate travel plans for family and friends from outside of St. Albert. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to an animal shelter or rescue organization of choice. The family would like to thank the Alberta Health Service professionals and Dr. Hamdi for Art’s excellent care.
